Description
This spectacular, sweeping vista captures an extraordinary moment on Oregon’s iconic Bandon beach, showcasing the work of Circles in the Sand artist Denny Dyke. The image centers on one of the magnificent, ephemeral Dreamfield Labyrinths, intricate works of art drawn directly into the sand and washed away by the tides.
The Bandon labyrinths are more than just patterns; they are tools for walking meditation. Inspired by the ever-changing ocean, the Dreamfield features a single, meandering path—a metaphor for life’s journey—with no dead ends or wrong turns, always promising a safe return home.
In “Heart of the Bandon Labyrinth,” the human figures walking the path provide a powerful sense of scale and community, contrasting against the timeless sentinel sea stacks. The image immortalizes this temporary work of art, fusing the monumental beauty of the Oregon coast with the gentle, guiding philosophy of the labyrinth, inviting the viewer to contemplate their own path and the transformative power of a quiet journey.
