I dunno…one school term has ended, and already a new one begins. Something about the constant dedication to student text, text, text eventually dulls my creativity. So, I’m stepping up to the Daily Create challenge this summer to see if I can sharpen up a little bit.

The challenges can be art, video, poetry…the idea is to check out the daily create challenge and Nike! You know, just do it! Everyone posts their work on the website to show solidarity and to get inspired.

If anyone wants to join me, the website is http://tdc.ds106.us/

Today’s Daily Create assignment is:

“Draw something abstract out of straight lines.”

I chose to fire up an iPad app called Auryn Ink. It was very satisfying to change color, ink density, and line texture and direction. I think what I loved about drawing straight lines is that they are the elements of text marks but in abstraction become expressive of emotion.

  • What? If your creativity is dulled then mine must be….I dunno…a smoldering almost extinguished ember? Boot camp, huh? Well, as long as no one yells at me, I’ll give it a try as time permits.
