The River

Last year Peter and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at Steamboat Inn up the North Umpqua River, and this year we went back and stayed a day longer. We made reservations for next year, so I guess that makes it almost a tradition!

We spent more time this year on the trails, bridges, and gravel bars of the North Umpqua and Steamboat Creek. This is designated wilderness, and the ravens, mergansers, wrens, dippers and Douglas squirrels all speak of this rich ecosystem. This is a short digital story I put together with a combination of still photos and video taken both with my i-Pad 3 and my Panasonic Lumix LX5.

I hope my dad can see it; I hear it’s pretty bright where he is on the other side of the veil of the living and the dead….

Both you and Peter , and Toren, Mischa, Lisle, Wendy and Warren were in contrasting but beautiful territory. Have you two been to Point Flattery? the most NW point in the USA> I made it and am still dazzled by the sight, sound, and power of the waves . I am so grateful to have made it in and back!!!
